pH meter and Impedance
After oesophagogastroscopy; In the lower end of the oesophagus, sores called erosion can be seen in the oesophagus due to looseness and acid leakage. In this case, the diagnosis can be made definitively. However, in some cases, it is necessary to document mathematically the presence of acid that escapes into the oesophagus, which is used for this purpose. The classical pH meter test can be performed with the cables attached from the nose, but the Bravo pH meter is performed by wirelessly sharing the information with a capsule attached to the oesophagus and a mobile phone-like receiver attached to the waist belt during gastroscopy. It is very meaningful in terms of patient comfort and diagnostic precision that cables are not attached from the nose and the test can be extended up to 48 hours.
- Patients with difficulty in diagnosis (h. Without wounds in the oesophagus)
- Patients scheduled for endoscopic or surgical treatment
- Treatment-resistant patients
WE CAN SAY THE MOST IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT OF THE LAST YEARS….
The problem with GERD is often acid escaping. However, some patients do not benefit from acid-suppressing drugs even though they have reflux, or the pH meter test may be normal. The patient takes acid-suppressing drugs and still does not improve. The common cause of reflux in these patients is not acid but alkaline fluids (bile pepsin ..) and it can only be diagnosed with Impedance test.
